Profound Change. Clear Direction. Deep Work.

I work with thoughtful, high-functioning adults — often in midlife — who are navigating change and ready for something deeper than insight alone.

You may have insight.
You may have done therapy before.
You may know exactly where your patterns come from.

But insight alone hasn't created the change you want.
That's where this work becomes different.

Recognition

This may feel familiar.

Nothing is wrong with you.

You're patterned. And patterns can change.

The work

A Different Way of Working

This is depth-oriented work that goes beneath understanding alone.

Many people I work with already know their stories. They understand their patterns. They've done therapy before.

But understanding something and actually feeling and behaving different are not the same thing.

Together, we work at the level where change actually happens — so insight becomes lived experience.

About Dr. Tubero

Hi, I'm Dr. Adrian Tubero.

I'm a licensed psychologist and founder of Empowered Mind. For more than 20 years, I've helped thoughtful, emotionally intelligent adults move through places where understanding alone hasn't been enough.

My work is especially attuned to midlife and other periods of transition — when identity, relationships, grief, family roles, and the question of what comes next begin to feel more urgent.

This is depth-oriented, experiential therapy for people ready to create change that is not just understood, but felt and lived.

This spring, I'm also holding a small 6-week group for women in this stage — The Midlife Shift →

Scope

What I Work With

I work with adults who are:

  • Struggling with long-standing emotional patterns
  • Navigating anxiety, burnout, identity shifts, or midlife transitions
  • Emotionally intelligent and self-aware — but still stuck
  • Ready to go beyond insight into felt, lasting change

I offer:

  • Ongoing individual psychotherapy
  • Focused, time-limited work for specific concerns
  • Periodic check-in sessions for returning clients

I do not offer:

  • Couples counseling
  • Substance abuse treatment
  • Crisis intervention
While I don't offer couples therapy, I do work deeply with relationship dynamics — including attachment wounds, betrayal, disconnection, and trust repair.

From Insight
to Real Change

Moving from understanding patterns to actually changing how you feel and respond.

Apply to Work Together

Therapy with Adrian helped me move from understanding my patterns to actually changing how I feel and respond.

I'm no longer reactive in the same way, and my relationships feel easier and more honest. The work was challenging — but I'm living differently because of it. I highly recommend working with Adrian.

Finding Ground
in Midlife

Navigating identity, transition, and the deeper questions this season brings.

Apply to Work Together

I came into this work feeling disoriented — unsure of who I was becoming and uncertain about what I wanted from the years ahead.

What I found with Adrian was a space that could hold these questions honestly, without pressure to resolve them quickly. Through our work, I began to find more solid ground in myself.

This work has been deeply meaningful and transformative. Adrian is warm, thoughtful, and deeply attuned.

When Insight
Isn't Enough

For those who understand themselves — but still feel stuck.

Apply to Work Together

I had been in therapy before and understood myself well — I knew my patterns, could trace them back, and could articulate them clearly. What I couldn't do was change them.

This work was different. For the first time, something underneath actually shifted. I didn't just understand myself differently — I began to experience myself differently.

Adrian helped me move beyond insight into something deeper and lasting.

As a fellow clinical psychologist, I've worked with Dr. Tubero for several years. Her depth, insight, and warmth have helped me understand how my past experiences continue to shape my internal world.

That awareness has led to real, lasting change — I feel more grounded, more balanced, and happier. I recommend her without reservation.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

This work is for self-aware, motivated adults who feel stuck despite having done significant personal work. This work is especially well-suited for those who feel they've plateaued in more insight-oriented therapy — or sense there is something deeper that traditional talk therapy has not fully reached.

Traditional talk therapy often works primarily at the cognitive level — understanding what happened and why.

This work goes deeper. Drawing on experiential, somatic, and depth-oriented approaches such as AEDP and CSRT, we work at the emotional and embodied level where long-standing patterns actually live.

Insight matters — but meaningful change happens through experience, not explanation. The goal is not simply to understand yourself differently, but to begin experiencing yourself differently.

AEDP and CSRT are experiential, depth-oriented therapeutic approaches that help access the emotional patterns living underneath symptoms, stuckness, and repeating dynamics.

Rather than working only through insight or conversation, these approaches help create change through emotional experience, nervous system regulation, and deeper self-connection.

I thoughtfully integrate these approaches depending on each person's needs — there is no one-size-fits-all model.

I do not accept insurance, though superbills are available for those seeking out-of-network reimbursement through their provider. Session fees and format details are outlined on the How I Work page, and we can also discuss any further questions during our consultation call.

It depends entirely on what you're working on and what you need. Some people do focused, time-limited work around a specific concern. Others engage in ongoing depth therapy over a longer arc. We discuss this in our initial consultation and revisit it as the work evolves — there's no one-size-fits-all structure.

Not at all. Many people I work with are functioning well on the outside but feel stuck, disconnected, lonely, uncertain, or ready for something deeper to shift. Therapy doesn't have to begin at a breaking point. Sometimes it begins when something inside no longer wants to stay the same.

After you submit the inquiry form, I'll review it and reach out within a few business days to schedule a brief consultation call. That conversation gives us both a chance to get a sense of fit — what you're looking for, whether this approach makes sense for where you are, and what working together might look like.

"Not therapy forever — just enough to change what hasn't been changing."
